Not sure that I would lump Celtic Frost in with the rest of the list.I would be expecting Tom G Warrior to turn up in the dead of the night and tear you a new one.

And where is Flotsam and Jetsam?
They blow most of this list into the weeds.

it's such a fine line between speed metal - thrash metal and power metals

metal church - metal church fits well in the speed category as does all material from Exciter. Megadeth - killing is my business is a good example for the most part. Early Helloween slides into the speed realm. Kill em all is another good example of speed metal while it does possess a thrash awareness. american power metal is a mix of traditional metal and speed metal - sorta like blending iron maiden with venom. Iced earth is a good example of amercian power metal. venom is speed metal and motorhead is speed punk/metal.

Well, a very confusing term this is. Back in the day we called speed metal most thrash metal bands and the heavier, speedier power metal bands (like WOJ Helloween or first two BG). I wouldn't call many bands speed metal anymore, labels are only useful as clarification tools and this one in particular serves mostly to confuse people. A look at the first post's list simply confirms this (Celtic Frost?).

That being said, I'd like to nominate Doomsday for the Deceiver as the finest speed metal album ever!
